How to play Gridlock
Every block on the grid is stuck on a single track. Horizontal blocks only slide left and right; vertical blocks only slide up and down. Nothing rotates, and nothing jumps over anything else.
Your goal is the red block. Clear the lane between it and the gap on the right edge, then slide it out. That is the whole puzzle — the difficulty is entirely in what order you move everything else.
Drag a block with the mouse or your finger to move it. The move counter tracks how efficiently you solved the level, and your best score for each level is saved in your browser so you can come back and beat it.
Levels unlock in order and your progress saves automatically. If you jam yourself into a corner, press Z to undo or R to reset the board — neither costs you anything except the move count.
Tips and strategy
- Work backwards. Look at the lane the red block needs, and ask which block is really in the way — often it is not the one directly blocking it.
- Corner blocks are usually the ones with the least freedom. Move them early, while you still have space to manoeuvre.
- A lower move count almost always means you found a shorter ordering, not a faster hand. Slow down and plan the whole sequence before your first drag.
